About iCAST
This conference is evolved from the International Workshop on Aware Computing (IWAC2009), the International Symposium on Aware Computing (ISAC2010), and the International Conference on Awareness Science and Technology (iCAST2011). It aims at providing a premier international forum for scientists and researchers to present the state of the art of the newly emerging field of awareness computing as well as its applications. Awareness computing aims at developing computing systems that are themselves aware, where the word "awareness" denotes the ability to be conscious of, feel, or perceive. It does not necessarily mean full comprehension, yet implies vigilance in observing and alertness in drawing inferences from what one experiences, and thus is very important for solving many practical problems. This is an exciting and emerging interdisciplinary area in which a wide range of theory and methodologies are being developed. iCAST2012 is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Computational Intelligence Society and IEEE Seoul Section. All the accepted papers will be included in the IEEE Xplore Database (IEEE Conference Record Number: 20201). Extended versions of the selected papers will be recommended for publication in some post conference journal special issues.
